Red Rock Canyon

Before heading to Death Valley, we decided yesterday to spend a day at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. What a beautiful place to see, with spectacular views and interesting rock formations.

We found a place to dry camp at the campground and then went for a drive around the 13 mile scenic drive, stopping at overlooks for pictures. There are many miles of hiking trails here, but we will save that for our next visit as it was getting late in the day when we got there.

Of course there was no internet or cell phone service out there, but we did manage to pull in a few TV stations with our antenna.

Today we are in Pahrump, Nevada. Wine Ridge RV Resort is still under construction, but open for business. There were not many other campers here at this time. We have full hook ups here so we can dump and fill and shop for groceries here before we go off into the wild of Death Valley. And free wi-fi that actually works, a rare thing in RV parks (I could rant about that topic).

  • Gasoline Expense: $41.26 ($3.56/gallon)
  • Camping Expense: $12 (Passport America rate), FHU
  • Camping Expense: $7.50 Red Rock Canyon (half price with Senior Pass) dry camp

Hi Marsha and Bernie. Is “Bernie on the rocks” a new beverage? That was very cute.
