Mt. Rubidoux Memorial Park

One of our favorite things to do here in Riverside is to hike the 3 mile paved scenic trail of shrines to Father Junipero Serra’s Cross at Mt.Rubidoux Memorial Park.

There is an American flag near the summit, flying today at half mast for the Riverside police officer that was murdered this week.

That cross has been there for more than 100 years.  The city is struggling right now with a lawsuit over having a religious symbol on public land.  I hope they are able to work something out because it would be a real tragedy if anything changed.
