Hammer Museum

Who knew hammers could be so fascinating?

Any visit to Haines would not be complete without a visit to The Hammer Museum on Main Street. The museum has 8,700 hammers, collected from around the world, but only 1,600 of them are on display.  It’s unbelievable how many variations of the hammer have been created throughout history.

My favorite is the electric hammer with an on/off switch and power cord.

There are a few interesting hammer sculptures in and around the building.

It got cold and windy so we spent the rest of the day at home.  There was a Princess Cruise ship that could not get to Skagway as planned because of the bad weather so it dropped in on Haines unexpected today.  Tomorrow we have reservations to put the motor home on a big ferry to Juneau, let’s hope the weather improves.
