Juneau, AK

We could have used a whole week to see Juneau, but one day is all we have, so here are just a few of the 100+ pictures from what we crammed into one day….

Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure… a botanical garden that features fallen trees, which are turned upside-down, planted into the ground trunk first, then covered with blooming flowers.

In keeping with the upside-down theme these umbrellas hung from the ceiling of the gift shop.

What a great place to have a wedding party!  Beautiful!

We rode the tram 1800 feet up to the Visitors Center, gift shop, restaurant, nature center, and hiking trails.

Juneau is built at the base of a mountain, so access to the buildings behind downtown is quite steep.

Thats a Lot of Steps!

That’s a Lot of Steps!

Mendenhall Glacier is just outside of town.  Salmon are swimming up stream to spawn in that area and black bears are after them.  We saw this black bear from a safe elevated boardwalk.

There was this beautiful waterfall next to the glacier that we wanted to hike out to but we were getting cold and it was starting to rain so we wimped out and did not go.
